The Firebird Suite

Anglia Ruskin University & National Autisitc Society Cambridge, June 2010

A special concert and puppet show, celebrating the 100th anniversary of Stravinsky’s The Firebird. Inspired by the iconic ballet, this original work was produced together with Anglia Ruskin University and members of the Cambridge branch of the National Autistic Society.

The work was a devised collaboratively through a series of workshops in music and music technology, drama and performance, puppet and set making. Igor Stravinsky’s The Firebird is a compelling ballet and musical score about adventure and magic, based on the Russian folk tale about a glowing bird and an enchanted land. It was the work that made Stravinsky almost a century ago, and has captivated generations since. The Firebird Project is a year-long programme, through which the participants, who are young adults with autism, have the opportunity to gain a full Level 2 qualification in Music Technology and Performance.
